DC Council passes permanent youth curfew with amendments, heads to congress

The passage of curfew legislation allows MPD to set curfew zones, restricting groups of eight or more teens from gathering in certain parts of the city.

WASHINGTON — The D.C. Council approved a controversial curfew measure with an 8-5 vote Tuesday that would give police the authority to establish curfew zones across the District. This was the second Council vote, after the first passed 8-5 in late April

Under the measure, the Metropolitan Police Department would be allowed to designate areas where children and teenagers are prohibited from gathering in groups of eight or more starting
