Driver who hit, killed pedestrian during 2022 Secret Service pursuit found guilty of vehicular homicide

The jury found Spiro Stafilatos guilty of one count each of second-degree murder, aggravated assault while armed and fleeing.

WASHINGTON — A jury found a Silver Spring man guilty of second-degree murder in a crash that claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman in 2022.

According to court documents, around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, Spiro Stafilatos, 38, was driving a dark Buick LeSabre sedan along the 700 block of 14th Street Northwest, not far from the White House. Uniformed U.S. Secret Service agents on mountain bikes noticed that the car did not have a front license
