Red panda suddenly, expectedly dies at National Zoo

Chris-Anne was found dead last week. Her cause of death is unknown.

WASHINGTON — One of National Zoo’s two red pandas, Chris-Anne, was found dead in her enclosure last week. Her death was “sudden and unexpected,” the National Zoo said.

Chris-Anne was just 6 years old. The life expectancy for a red panda is about 10 years, according to the zoo. Throughout the day of her death, her behavior, demeanor and appetite were normal, officials said.
