DC teens urged leaders to listen and invest in solutions like mental health support and safe spaces, instead of passing judgment.

WASHINGTON — Young people gathered Wednesday night at a youth town hall hosted by the Black Swan Academy, speaking candidly about the challenges they face and the solutions they want city leaders to consider.

“We always have a negative title no matter what,” said Tyela Dawson, 17, one of the speakers at the event.

Dawson said she attended to push for change and outlined what that could look like.
