Tigers’ Hao-Yu Lee leaves game after home-plate collision

CLEVELAND – Tigers’ rookie Hao-Yu Lee got the worst of it after he collided at home plate with Guardians’ catcher Austin Hedges in the top of the third inning of Game 2 Friday night on Sept. 4.

Lee tried to score from third base on a ground ball to third by Spencer Torkelson. Jose Ramirez’s throw beat him to the plate and Lee appeared to bang knees with Hedges.

He stayed bent over for several seconds and needed some assistance getting to his feet. He limped off with the help of the Tigers’ trainers.
