MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Montgomery County Public Schools has revised its budget reduction plan, restoring dozens of positions that were previously slated for elimination while identifying new cuts to help close a $36 million budget gap.
The changes come after weeks of advocacy from employees and calls for a review of district staffing needs. Superintendent Thomas Taylor announced Tuesday that MCPS plans to restore 59 positions that had been targeted for elimination, including 15 staff development teachers, 18 school psychologists and 26 college and career navigators.
