The emu has been returned to its owners.
SALISBURY, Md. — An emu got loose and was chased for hours in Salisbury, Maryland Saturday.

Maryland State police said they were called to the Salisbury Bypass near Ocean City Exit around 10:50 a.m. for a report of an emu in the road. It wasn’t until 2 p.m. that they were able to corral the bird and catch it with a dog leash.
The emu was hit by a car around 1:30 p.m., police said, but was not injured.
