Montgomery County Public Schools proposes job cuts amid $36M budget gap

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — We now have a better idea about the scope of proposed staffing cuts for Montgomery County Public Schools. MCPS Board leaders met on Thursday to discuss proposed staffing cuts in response to its fiscal budget for the next school year.

The reality is starting to set in for some MCPS employees. They could soon be out of work. 

“I don’t know,” said Julian Smith, MCPS Social Worker, “I think I’m at a place where I’m at a loss for words.”
