Elina Svitolina won her third Italian Open title on Saturday, defeating Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-2 on Saturday in Rome. She previously won the tournament in 2017 and 2018, and improved to 8-0 in finals played on a clay court.
On her way to her third title in Rome and fifth WTA 1000 title overall, Svitolina defeated the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 players in the world rankings. Prior to besting Gauff, she beat Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek.
