ROCKVILLE, Md. — After delays and tense debate over a $150 million budget shortfall, the Montgomery County Council is moving forward with a $7.9 billion budget for fiscal year 2027.
The council voted to approve budget changes that would move $36 million from capital improvement programs and into the operating budget. A move many on the council say is not smart, but is necessary to avoid major education funding cuts.
