More than 100 teachers and school staff members packed Montgomery County Council headquarters Thursday to protest possible school budget cuts.
ROCKVILLE, Md. — Thursday’s session at Montgomery County Council Headquarters ended moments after it began, drawing boos and angry reactions from educators seeking answers about potential layoffs and reductions in school services.
“We have more discussions to have among colleagues, so we’re going to postpone this session until tomorrow,” Council Vice President Natali Fani-Gonzalez said before the hearing was adjourned.
The county is facing an estimated $150 million budget shortfall.
