More than a dozen DC Police officers now on leave as internal affairs investigation expands

WASHINGTON — There are new developments in a high-profile internal affairs investigation at the Metropolitan Police Department involving multiple high-ranking leaders. An MPD internal affairs report was delivered to lawmakers on Tuesday.

Thirteen officers are now on administrative leave as the investigation expands. 

A source close to the case tells WUSA9 that investigators have confiscated multiple MPD-issued phones from officers and reviewed a large number of emails including communications tied to one of the department’s now-former assistant chiefs.
