The Baltimore Orioles showed on Tuesday why baseball teams should never give up early in the season. They entered their matchup with the Miami Marlins on a five-game losing streak, but they won 9-7 largely thanks to rookie catcher Samuel Basallo.
The 21-year-old went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored after going 3-for-12 with one RBI over the previous four games. He plated star first baseman Pete Alonso on a first-inning double before hitting a two-run single in the third and an RBI triple in the fifth.
