WASHINGTON — During a hearing in Washington, D.C., U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui issued an apology to Cole Tomas Allen, the suspect accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at the April 25 White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

Faruqui expressed ‘grave’ concerns over the conditions of Allen’s confinement in the D.C. jail, questioning the necessity of keeping the defendant in solitary confinement and on restrictive suicide watch despite psychiatric evaluations finding no indication of risk.
