Eleven injured after WMATA work vehicle hits Metro train

WASHINGTON — Eleven people are being treated for injuries after a WMATA work vehicle collided with a Metro train overnight. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority says just after midnight on Wednesday, a work vehicle made contact with a stationary Silver Line train at the Metro Center platform.

Those injured on the passenger train were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. WMATA says they are still investigating the cause of the incident.

Trains elsewhere on the system were delayed through the end of operations. The transit authority is working to clear the scene, and will provide updates if it will
