Evans announced his campaign back in January.
WASHINGTON — Embattled former DC Councilmember Jack Evans confirms he is dropping out of the race for Council chairman. He launched his campaign back in January in hopes of replacing the Council’s current leader, Phil Mendelson.
Evans told WUSA9 he is facing challenges to the petition signatures he submitted to get on the June primary ballot. Those challenges would have left him short of the required number, so he decided to withdraw.
Evans resigned from the DC Council in 2020.
