The Detroit Lions desperately need help on defense, and defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard just delivered an incredibly encouraging update on Brian Branch. After watching the Pro Bowl safety return to practice Wednesday, Sheppard believes Branch already looks like a player who never missed a beat.
Even more encouraging, Sheppard believes Branch is physically capable of playing right now. That does not guarantee he will suit up Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, but it certainly suggests Detroit could be getting one of its most important defensive weapons back sooner rather than later.
