Ratings: Atlético top Real Madrid in fiery city derby

The first half of this 300th Madrid Derby was everything you would expect from this fixture in terms of intensity, but there was very little quality to go along with it. Both sides were physical, tempers were beginning to flare and it always felt like the match was one challenge away from boiling over.

In terms of actual football, though, there was not much to write home about. Neither side created much of anything going forward, but Atlético were probably the slightly better of the two teams and looked the more likely to make something happen.
