LA Lakers sale under threat as Jeanie Buss contests siblings’ ability to sell after vote

Following Mark Walter’s sale of a majority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers, the Buss family reportedly agreed to sell their minority stake as well. However, Jeanie Buss isn’t having any of it.

Jeanie Buss has been Governor of the Los Angeles Lakers since 2013, following the passing of her father, Jerry Buss. In 2025, the Buss family sold their controlling share in the Lakers to Mark Walter.

Just a year on, things have changed drastically. Walter has sold his majority share in the franchise to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner at a $12.5 billion valuation.
