Indian-origin opening batter Neel Patel has earned one of the biggest opportunities of his young career after being named in Australia’s Under-19 squad for next month’s multi-format tour of India.
The New South Wales youngster is among 16 of Australia’s brightest emerging cricketers selected for the four-week tour, which will see the visitors play three one-day matches and two four-day games against India U19 across Rajkot and Ahmedabad from September 13 to October 9.
For Patel, the selection marks another significant milestone in a rapidly rising career that has already established him as one of Australia’s most exciting teenage batting prospects.
