Now, construction is well underway on the latest Freedom 250 event that will transform an iconic part of the city.

The latest project is the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, which will convert downtown streets surrounding the National Mall into a temporary IndyCar circuit when the race comes to DC next month.
Crews have begun installing concrete barriers, fencing and race infrastructure ahead of the Aug. 22-23 event.
