The San Diego Padres continued to insert themselves back in the wild-card race against the Miami Marlins, as they posted an impressive 7-2 win to send the Marlins to their 11th straight loss.
This one was tight early, though, as the Padres had to counter a fine start from Eury Perez, who was tough throughout. San Diego broke on top in the third inning, with red-hot Ty France once again in the middle of the action. The rally came with two out, as Jake Cronenworth walked, Manny Machado doubled and France brought them home on a single to left.
