Nebraska shortstop signs free agent deal with the New York Mets

A star Nebraska shortstop signed a free-agent deal following the conclusion of the 2026 MLB Draft on Monday. Dylan Carey signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Mets.

Carey is the third Husker to be picked up by a Major League Baseball organization. Ty Horn and Carson Jasa were selected in the third round of the draft. Horn was selected 94th overall by the Cincinnati Reds, and Jasa was selected 98th overall by the Chicago Cubs.
