D.C. is gearing up for major electoral changes as longtime leaders, including Mayor Bowser, step down.
WASHINGTON — There are a lot of changes coming to D.C. government this election cycle. Several longtime lawmakers have announced they are not seeking re-election. They include Mayor Muriel Bowser, Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds, and Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne Nadeau; plus Kenyan McDuffie gave up his At-Large Council seat to run for mayor, so a special election is being held for that position as well on June 16.
