Texas tabbed as regional host

After a second straight 40-win season, the Texas Longhorns will return from losing their opening game in the SEC Tournament by hosting an Austin Regional for the 39th time in program history as one of 16 hosts in this year’s championship.

Play begins on Friday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field following the 8-1 loss by Texas to Arkansas in Hoover on Friday, the second opening-game loss in the conference tournament under head coach Jim Schlossnagle.

The extent to which that defeat impacts the overall seeding for the Longhorns will become apparent at 11 a.m. Monday on ESPN2 with the announcement of the field
