Case to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Liberia at a ‘stalemate’

The Trump administration is seeking permission from a Maryland federal judge to reverse prior decisions, allowing Kilmar Abrego Garcia to be deported to Liberia.

GREENBELT, Md. — The case against the Maryland man wrongfully deported last year to El Salvador and brought back to face a human smuggling charge is at a stalemate his attorneys say.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia was back in Maryland federal court Tuesday as the Trump administration tries to get permission from a federal judge to deport him to Africa. The federal government is asking judge Paula Xinis to lift her prior decisions
