Amazon and DDOT launch a 10-month pilot in D.C., replacing some delivery trucks with 15 e-cargo bikes to explore eco-friendly urban deliveries.
WASHINGTON — The Department of Transportation (DDOT) and Amazon announced a new delivery pilot in the District. During a 10-month pilot, Delivery Service Partners (DSP) will begin delivering Amazon packages to customers in D.C. using a fleet of 15 battery-powered e-cargo bikes.
These won’t be regular e-bikes. The bikes will have four wheels, a secure rear cargo hold, covered seating, a windshield, and windshield wipers. These bikes will replace some of the larger Amazon delivery
