Commanders add four-time All-Big Ten kicker after NFL draft

The Washington Commanders have signed themselves an additional kicker.

Some (like me) thought the Commanders might use their round-seven choice on a kicker, but that selection went to Rutgers QB Athan Kaliakmanis, in hopes of improving their third-quarterback situation, and that is understandable.

Two days after the conclusion of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Commanders signed undrafted Iowa kicker Drew Stevens. Stevens was a four-time All-Big Ten Kicker with the Hawkeyes.

Stevens kicked with the Hawkeyes all four seasons (2022-25). In his four seasons he connected on all but two of his extra point attempts (124-126). Regarding field goals, Stevens enjoyed two seasons
