WASHINGTON — Following a frightening security incident at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, questions are mounting over whether the event’s security protocols need a permanent upgrade.

As suspect Cole Allen attempted to breach the ballroom before being intercepted by the Secret Service, witnesses described a scene of sudden chaos. 

“I hear pop, pop, pop, which I figured to be gunshots,” one witness recalled. “I heard Secret Service pulling the President out.”
