MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. — Police are investigating a fatal accidental shooting involving a child in Montgomery Village. It happened Tuesday afternoon.

At 2:45 p.m., police were called to the 10100 block of Maple Leaf Drive for reports of a “code.” Police say that means there was a person who was unresponsive.
When officers arrived, they found a 6-year-old boy who apparently shot himself in the face. Despite life-saving efforts, the child died at the scene.
