National Guard service members to help with snow removal at DC public schools

The support will continue until operations are complete, ensuring students and staff can get to school safely.

WASHINGTON — DC National Guard members will assist with clearing public schools after a winter storm left roads and sidewalks covered in ice and snow.

Starting Saturday, guard members will help with snow removal at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and surrounding neighborhoods, under the authorization of  U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Leland L. Blanchard II, the interim commanding general of the D.C. National Guard.
