Hawaii holds off Cal State Bakersfield in 4 sets

Three Hawaii players finished in double figures in kills, led by sophomore Adrianna Arquette, who recorded another triple-double in a 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17 win over Cal State Bakersfield today at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield, Calif.

Arquette, who a week ago became the first Rainbow Wahine in seven years to record a triple-double, did it again. She finished with 28 assists and career-highs of 17 digs and 14 kills with three aces and three blocks to help Hawaii improve to 6-8 overall and 2-1 in Big West play.

Sophomore middle Maddie Way added a career-high 13 kills in 17 swings and hit .765 for UH, which has never lost in 10 all-time meetings against the Roadrunners (3-13, 0-4).

Hawaii played without its top four leaders in kills per set. Freshman outside hitter Cha’lei Reid made the road trip but didn’t play. Outside hitters Tali Hakas and Stella Adeyemi have been ruled out for the season with injuries, and senior Bri Gunderson did not play after playing in every match this season with 11 starts.

UH finishes its roadtrip on Saturday at Cal State Northridge (8-6, 1-2) at 3 p.m.
